I've heard that people are trying to make computers based on human genetics. Then they'll have unlimited capacity (like our brains) and other neat things too. Then there'd probably be weirdness too. At first, before they perfect it, you'll probably be taking your COMPUTER to the doctor for viruses. As in real viruses.

I've actually known about this for a while. I believe it was announced in January. But anyways there's a new version of Trillian coming out called Trillian Astra. They've gotten pretty far in it but they don't want to make any promises on the release date because they're afraid they'll miss it. In case you don't know, Trillian is an instant messaging client that can be configured to work with a bunch of different instant messaging servers. Basically, it's AIM, IRC, ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN in a bottle (you just run Trillian and you can use all of those). And that's the free version. If you pay $20 it adds support for skins and plug-ins, meaning that it adds even more such as Novell, Jabber, Google Talk, Rendezvous, and Skype (but Skype is only partially working right now). I'm not sure what all will be free with Astra. Trillian has always had a free version and a version you pay for. All I know is that there'll be a few more plug-ins available for Astra, such as MySpace IM. They do about the same thing but SUPER is more specific. Like, in MediaCoder you can (for example) convert a .wav file to an .mp3, and it just does it. In SUPER when you try to convert a .wav to an .mp3 you get more specific with the transition, such as putting in what frequency you want the sound at, quality of the music, etc. Like I said though, MediaCoder is much easier to use (for the above reason, in case you don't know what all the optons mean, and because it's shinier with more self-explanatory features).

exe is an executable application. No, you can't.
And I found them both good for different reasons. I recommend MediaCoder to you guys, though, because it's more user friendly. SUPER is still a good program, though. If you're feeling bold, go for it. XD

Well I find it odd that you pick Hitler out of all the things you could think of. Must you link EVERY SINGLE THING someone says into some warped religious idea? Stop. With. The. Religious. Talk. Religion is discussed WAY too much on these forums. I read this and logged on just to respond: We should talk about religion. The conversations would be shallow otherwise. But when you decide that you're absolutely right and that everybody has to live the "right" way it REALLY pisses me off. There's a word for people who take religion into everything, and create twisted realities of what it means. It's fundamentalist. James... you ever watch Jesus Camp?

Do you have something against jews? Even though I'm not Jewish. Even though two of my friends are. James, you are a hypocrite and your opinions are twisted and unrealistic. You are being a jackass. Stop.

So you're saying that just because he is your friend, he's a mod? *Gasp* And KocrSpinal is also a mod, so that would also explain it. No. Quit talking about it.

1 bit = 1 bit 1 byte = 8 bits 1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes 1 megabyte = 1024 kilobytes 1 gigabyte = 1000 megabytes 1 terabyte = 1024 gigabytes 1 petabyte = 1024 terabytes 1 exabyte = 1024 petabytes Whoops forgot the 24. Damn the system... CAN'T WE KEEP IT CONSISTENT?! AND MAYBE WITH ZEROS INSTEAD OF 24's?!

I saw that! I heard somewhere that one TB is equal to all the books stuffing a truck. In all, if you typed all the words and placed all the pics, it would be about one Terabyte. After that it's and Exabyte, i think. All words ever spoken by humans. Exabyte...? Well, it IS the size of a standard computer. It's just a bunch of hard drives stacked on top of each-other. Still, though. It's friggin' huge. And about sizing: Nothing today is ever one byte. One byte, I THINK, is 1000 KB. A standard text file is about 2-10 KB. Nobody ever puts more than that in. A Word text file is more like 24 KB because of formatting (text size, bold, etc) A megabyte is 1000 KB. Most pictures are a few MB. A gigabyte is 1000 MB. Full-length movies can be from 500 MB to around 8 GB depending on picture quality and size. A terabyte is 1000 GB and so far nothing I've ever seen has been that big. Just looked up exabyte, and you're right, Jim. Wow you actually taught me something about computers today. Look at this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExabyteCheck out the chart on the right. There's even more.

Meh. My dad works in the hardware division of HP; he doesn't even have it on his laptop. He's waiting till the pricetag on it goes down before he buys it. So I have yet to get Vista, or even see it. XP is still great for me though. But XP Pro's price = Vista Home's Price The only thing XP Pro has over Vista Home is networking. I suppose that if you were to buy it though you'd want Home Premium, at least, which is a little more...

Vista's so pretty... My dad has it on his laptops. He works at HP in the laptop division thing. He has like, seven laptops. :3 I hate you guys for that! My dad works for Pioneer who work for HP so he doesn't get the direct HP stuff! *humph* He does get "hooked up" every now and then, though. So I guess rather Pioneer than something completely unrelated to computers.

Reasons why you SHOULD buy Vista:
1. It's better than XP 2. It looks pretty 3. It is the new operating system 4. It has neat toys 5. It is easier to use 6. Microsoft just released the new Virtual PC, so you can use XP on it anyways (if someting goes wrong). Virtual PC is free, but you need the operating system disc for XP to use XP.
