Hello, I just finished a 69 line C++ application that will take a whole number or decimal, and convert it to..a whole number or decimal! XD Like I told Alex, it's not all about the program, but what you learn in the process of making it. But anyway, I thought it turned out pretty good. I'm still thinking of ways to perfect it, but you can download it here: www7.spread-it.com/dl.php?id=5543ca52bc782bb597752a9f20466bebefc6ce77Tell me if it works alright.

Link doesnt work... Ok doesnt that just keep the number the same number. HOw would You change a decimal to a whole number?

Are you sure the link doesn't work? It wasn't working a second ago, but I thought I fixed it. And converting a decimal to a whole number would be like this: 2.5 converted to 3. Or 6.2 converted to 6. Or even 29.66 converted to 30.

Yeah.

That would be rounding. How about a suggestion? Decimals to fractions! Good work on that by the way... but you can do that in about five lines (at the most) in ActionScript. XD I want to learn C++, too, but you can have it for now. I'm starting with the foundation.

Rounding, converting, same thing. I mean, take a whole number and convert it to decimal, you get number.0!
Thanks, and sure you can do it in ActionScript, but it's not nearly as flexible as C++. ;D

And Decimals to Fractions sounds like a good idea. I'll give that a try.

I understand that... but how flexible do you need it? You use C++ to make stuff like firmware, but for simple applications, Flash is easier and looks better. Is 60 lines really worth the flexibility? If I were to make a full-blown program, C++ is da deal. But otherwise, ActionScript is easier to learn, faster to make porgrams with, and easier to make look better faster.

Trust me, each line of code has a meaning! XD

That made me laugh. C'mon man! See the flaws of your language. It takes 60 lines to do something that ActionScript can do in 5 lines and it's more visual. I understand the flaws of my language. It's not as flexible and you can't export it to every freakin' format known to man. You have lot's of limits. Basically: C++: Use for full-blown applications and 3D rendered video games that take alot of time to make but with dedication, have the best quality. ActionScript: Use for simple programs that can be done visually and fast. Plus it runs on all OS's. Now, which one would YOU learn first? That thing you just made is a simple program, and all I'm saying is that it would have been easier to do in Flash.

Yes, but when was I trying to prove C++ better?

Just wait... I can see it now. Gleasonator Games ~Leeching the Mantis-Games dreamXD You know flash isn't nearly as powerful as C++.

That's not proving C++ better. It's like the Graphics VS. Gameplay debate.

Trust me, each line of code has a meaning! XD Lol, yes, I know that sounds funny. But i'm only reminding you that since there's a reason for each line of code in my program, and my program has 60 something lines, imagine the flexibility! But we've gotton past this.

That actually sounds more flexible in the way that you specify everything but also less flexible because you can't get it to meet your needs as fast. O.o
