I don't understand why an SSB DS wouldn't be possible. The controls would work just fine like this:
Control Pad:
(Tap) Up: Jump (Hold) Up: (Tap 'A' to do the uppercut.) (Hold) Up: (Hold 'A' to do the charged uppercut.)
Right: Walk Right (Double Tap) Right: Run Right
Left: Walk Left (Double Tap) Left: Run Left
(Hold) Down: Crouch
Buttons:
A: Primary Attack (Or grab item) B: Secondary Attack X: Jump Y: Jump
L: Shield R: Shield L+A: Grab
Start: Pause Select: Uhm.. Something else.
And the rest works just like you think it would.

I'm more for R being shield and L being grab.
Select would be taunt.

I just came up with this: Buy one at the Mantis-Games online store!

But of course there's the attaching to your DS problem, and that side view is all messed up. IGNORE THE SIDE VIEW.

Gleason could take apart the DS and install it.

Then how could you play games with the D-pad? I think the suction cup idea would be good. The question is, can the DS handle the graphics and the fact that there's 4 people on screen at once? Doing Crazy combos?

good point. it definitly has to have wifi & local wireless connection. The only downside would be the graphics would be alittle better than N64 version. Also there would be less characters to play as because of memory.

Indeed. If done correctly, it could rock. If done wrong, it could be a cheap knock-off.

Gleason could take apart the DS and install it. Yeah, you'd also have to drill a big circle out of the D-Pad to aim diagonally. This should require no opening of the DS. *Cough*Super Mario 64 DS*cough**cough*Metroid Prime: Hunters*cough*

I still like the whole idea about SSB being on the big-screen.

Yeah, I'm worried if 4 players can comfortably fit on the DS screen and still have details. Getting the chars just right would be hard. Er... will be hard. Otherwise there's nothing stopping it. Take note, SM64DS and MPH were 3-D. If Nintendo wants to keep the 4th person veiw, which they probably do, they'll have to work.

I have no doubt that SSB will come to the hand-helds. But maybe the system after DS could support it a little better. they could add joysticks, more memory in the cartridges, better graphics. They should wait till they have the right format to make it an acceptable game.

The next Nintendo hand-held system will definantly be a lot better! if the next handheld system got any better we will all be pissing in our pants when we play it. I read a very long time ago a rumor about another DS, but just better graphics and more like the PSP, but alot[shadow=red,left,300][/shadow] better

Yeah, using sprites would be very unusual and un-smash like.

Un-smash... Interesting... Well, I'm getting REALLY tired of all this talk about SSB. I mean, we don't even know when it's coming out!
