PHPBB instead of VBulletin? Reasons why:
1) It does everything VB does plus more 2) More support from hackers and developers than VB 3) It's free

To be clear, this site is a free site. PHPBB is free software BUT the hosting of the software is not free.
The advantages to moving forward into a better forum software are multi-fold. Better features, more control, no advertisements, and on and on.

As soon as someone comes up with a server. My dad is into web design so whenever he's ready he promised me a chunk of it.
Austin: You can edit it however you want. I could reproduce ProBoards (or any other bulletin board) into PHPBB if I wanted to.

There's thousands of websites like this: www.phpbbhacks.com/

There's really some cool stuff you can do with hacks. Out of the box, PHPBB isn't even as good as ProBoards aside from it being more detailed in some areas. With hacks you can get crazy. This one VB I used to go to had an arcade. It was friggin' awesome.... there was an arcade button at the top where you could play games, and there would be a list of high scores. And if you got the high score you'd get a little button under your avatar. I'll try to find a PHPBB hack like that. There's also a ton of different buddy system hacks. I'd like to find one similar to ACC's. Man... HURRY UP AND GET ME SERVER SPACE!! This is making me excited!

There is Illinois which consists of me and my friends who go here. Texas, which consists of your friends and such. And Minnesota, which consists of ILA, EB, and Kerei and such. I know we are going to move, so I'll alert the Illinois users about our new location. And there are the Texas users which you can probably tell. What I'm trying to say is, don't switch until at least one Minnesota user knows. Because I don't usually see Kerei on AIM or anywhere else. So we'd have no contact. I suggest making a thread about moving in advance. Or PM all members. And was the VB with the arcade you were talking about The Temple of Light?

I was thinking of not deleting the forum until we've had the new one for 1 month. You could delete all theads and put one announcement saying the new link to the new forum. That way people who don't know can figure it out.

That way people who don't know can figure it out. There is a "PM all" option which would be more effective. So everyone would have to see it. Because I don't think all the users read the announcements.

Austin and Jim: Here's what I'm going to do:
-Use the PM all and email all features to notify anyone registered at my forums that we have moved -Disable people from signing up and posting -Hide all boards except one saying that we've moved and where we've moved to, plus a message in the news fader
Then I'll just leave the forums where they are (for referring back to in case we need them for a PHPBB project, need someone's email and so on) because it's not hosted on my server so therefore not my problem. Then I'll change the link on my site to work with the new forums. Of course by that time the site will have also changed, so I'll add that to the only visible thread left.
And no, it wasn't the Temple of Light. I didn't even know they had one. O.o

I just checked the Temple of Light. It was exactly like that except the selection of games were better (you can go online and just find games though). I really hope I can find a PHPBB hack like that. The arcade is really cool.
