I recomend you state that that is not who you are unless you want a new enemy. Do you want to lock horns (s'cuse the pun) with me Troggy? ;D You know, we really should delve into your reaction a bit. Who do you think that red fellow is? Do you think he's actually named in the bible? Why do you think he has any religious connotation at all? Please cite for me, if you can, the chapter or verse in the bible where Satan or Lucifer are mentioned and then we can discuss your reaction. Are you so prepared to gain enemies over a ghost who doesn't biblically exist in the context in which you understand him?

Mattew 4:1-10 1Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. 2After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." 4Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. 5Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6"If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: " 'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 7Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test. 8Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9"All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me." 10Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.
James 3:14-16 14But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. 16For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

*opens up Bible* May I add some?
"Satan rose up against Israel and caused David to take census of the Israelites." 1 Chronicle 21:1
"(Jesus speaking) 'The time of judgement for the world has come, when the prince of this world (Satan) will be cast out.' " John 12:31
"Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour." 1 Peter 5:8 Oh, and they're all from the NLT Bible...

Sore wa nan desu ka?! I got so confused right after people started reposting the red- demon picture.. maybe I did miss out on something.. (@.@)Probably because I confused myself. My intent was to steer this thread into a discussion about the names of 'Satan' and 'Lucifer' and then where the current accepted physical attributes came from (red skin, horns etc) but now I'm thinking I may try to steer it into a conversation of what "the devil" really might be. My intent for posting that picture, by the way, was to illustrate the fact that I sometimes like to play the role of Devil's Advocate. It started out as an innocent rebuttal to someone's likening of me to Jesus. I'm chock full of fault and while I am flattered that people seem to think highly of me, I certainly don't deserve any special attention or accolades. Someone else drove this thread into the religious realm and so shall have to endure my thoughts on the subject.

My intent was to steer this thread... ..but now I'm thinking I may try to steer it into a conversation of what .... so you do go off steering our small minds in the direction that you want them to go in.. ((to salty: "there is a 'Shadow King' here.." -haruhi/ouran host club )) I'm chock full of fault and while I am flattered that people seem to think highly of me, I certainly don't deserve any special attention or accolades. When Salty was over at my house last weekend (May 19-20) we had a conversation about this! Kinda dealing with "Taboo". You post very little, but when you do post, it is a well thought out response twisting out normal thought track and therefore making you seem very mysterious, clever, and wise. After thinking this, and having you be of an older age then all of us, we put you in a position higher than us. Everyone then respects your opinions greatly, and puts much thought into them. But, are you really all the different or special? Just another guy with an interesting mind, perhaps? (Or just someone who doesn't have much time for GLEASONATOR and when he does post doesn't just want the same old LOL! O rly? That's what I thought! One sentence posts. Salty and I linked this to other people in our school that we hold a certain edge to. People that we supposedly "know" but remain mysterious to us, and cease to amaze us, we assume are probably better than us. Kinda like our heroes. There are kids in my grade and same age that I put into this kind of position self conciously! I have no idea if this is making much sense at all, 'cause it is 11:00 at night, and I am letting my fingers to all the talking (>.<) Let's see if you guys can make sense of it.

so you do go off steering our small minds in the direction that you want them to go in.. After thinking this, and having you be of an older age then all of us, we put you in a position higher than us. Everyone then respects your opinions greatly, and puts much thought into them. I've heard it put well this way (and it follows to myself and people who have seen more than I have seen): You can think of perspective in life like a tall building. As one gets older he/she climbs up the building and attains a higher window. From my window I might be able too see further or even see something that's about to happen simply because I have a higher vantage point. It doesn't mean I'm any smarter, I just have a clearer view from where I stand. People that we supposedly "know" but remain mysterious to us, and cease to amaze us, we assume are probably better than us. Kinda like our heroes. There are kids in my grade and same age that I put into this kind of position self conciously! Let's see if you guys can make sense of it. No one is better than anyone else (I know you know this). We are all comprised of the same cosmic material for purposes largely unknown. I personally cannot bring myself to believe that our existence has no ultimate purpose (folks your age (ALEX!) tend to have trouble with that one as a whole (as I did)). Everyone has an individual contribution to make and we owe it to ourselves (and everyone else) to discover what that is. People we tend to elevate are those who appear to be clear in purpose (though many are really not). I see in my life far too many people who allow their thinking to be done for them. I hear, daily, people who say "Man, I hate liberals" and then when you ask them what they think a liberal is, it's basically anyone who disagrees with them (liberal=x, you can substitute moslem, christian, republican, agnostic, etc for X). People follow religions, politicians, movie stars, singers, bands etc because they appear sometimes to have a clue. If someone you speak with or some religion or other following makes sense to you then by all means pursue it. All *I* ask is that you know why you are doing it (hence my devil's advocacy here). For the record, I think every one of you is in some way smart or special. If I didn't, I wouldn't waste my time here. I will force you to think about what you say/think but it's because I want *YOU* to be clear about why you believe it or think it. Dig?

(I don't want to quote the whole message; but i am assuming you know what I am talking about) That was very well put! About the building and everything. That "everyone is smart in there own way" can be such a touchy/debatable subject at times. But generally, I believe in it. (sometimes people have such unusual talents, that they are next to useless and therefore people think they don't have any. They do.. it's just in how things work they aren't obvious.) After all, I have next to NO talent what-so-ever in sports, so I looked elsewhere. Oh, and and what REALLY REALLY annoys me is when people pull the old, "Well, you're in SMART math" (aka 9th grade Geometry vs algebra) I hate math! Why is it that just because I can work at a problem until I get is and manage to pass the class with a good grade make me SMARTER than some people? Sometimes, they just give up too quickly. Once again, I don't know how much sense this makes, and it is poorly written if I do say so myself. But I don't feel like working on it much more. [desu]
